Xtream™ Ultrafiltration Hollow Fiber Membrane

Hollow Fiber UF System

The Kruger Xtream Ultrafiltration (UF) system provides a modular, compact solution for consistently producing drinking water and treating wastewater. The Xtream UF system removes particulates, bacteria and pathogens, algae and colloids and is able to meet increasingly stringent envionmental regulations. Kruger's Xtream includes a fully-automated control system with little operator intervention required.

Potable Water Production

Quality requirements for potable water are becoming increasingly stringent throughout the world. The allowable levels for turbidity and microbiology are being lowered, and new limits are being established for viruses and chlorine resistant organisms, such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia. Effluent concentrations for organic compounds are also becoming more stringent to prevent disinfection by-products (DBPs), which are potential carcinogens. The Kruger Xtream Ultrafiltration membrane consistently produces effluent water <0.1 NTU turbidity, removes >99.99% of cryptosporidium and giardia spores, and can be paired with enhanced coagulation to target organics removal.

Wastewater Reuse and Phosphorus Removal

Effluent from wastewater treatment plants is typically discharged to surface water, or polished by tertiary filters such as the Kruger Hydrotech Discfilter for reuse applications.

For more stringent discharge permit requirements such as phosphorus removal, a higher level of treatment is needed. Phosphorus effluent levels as low as 0.03 mg/L have been achieved with coagulant addition using the Xtream process.

The UF membrane is California DHS Title 22 Approved and has proven to be an effective treatment for reuse of secondary/tertiary effluent, phosphorus removal and pre-treatment to reverse osmosis (RO).

Kruger Xtream™ Ultrafiltration Package System

The Kruger Ultrafiltration Package System is a self-contained modular treatment plant ideal for flowrates between 0.1 MGD and 5 MGD. Each unit is pre-engineered, skid-mounted and factory-tested, allowing for savings on installation time and cost.

Typical scope of supply includes the following:

  • Feed pump and 300 micron auto-cleaning strainer skid
  • Membrane rack skid, including system PLC control panel
  • Chemical day-tank(s) and dosing pump(s) skid (CEB chemicals, coagulant, as required)
  • Backwash pump skid
  • Air compressor and receiver skid
