City of Surprise, AZ for the supply of two (2) 4.0 MGD BIO-DENITRO® oxidation ditch systems for Phases IV and V of the SPA1 WWTP expansion.

I. Kruger Inc. was awarded a contract from the City of Surprise, AZ for the supply of two (2) 4.0 MGD BIO-DENITRO® oxidation ditch systems for Phases IV and V of the SPA1 WWTP expansion. Kruger's scope also includes upgrading the SCADA system and providing control panels for the oxidation ditch, as well as other processes including Dewatering, ATAD, and Thickener.

Due to the City's growing population and increase in development, the project was fast-tracked by using the Construction Manager at Risk (CM@Risk) process. Kruger worked closely with the City of Surprise and the consulting engineer, RT Engineers, to determine the process design factors and objectives, specifications, scope of supply, and commercial terms. The BioDenitro systems are designed to meet a TN effluent of <8 mg/L.

Kruger's BIO-DENITRO system was selected as the preferred process due to our existing installations at the plant for Phases I, II, and III. The City felt it was beneficial to remain with the same process as the plant expanded because of the similarity in equipment and the ability to utilize existing resources.
