I. Kruger Inc. was awarded a contract from the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility located in Evansville, IN for the supply of a BIOSTYR Biological Aerated Filter (BAF). Kruger's scope of supply includes the BIOSTYR equipment, PLC-based control panel, field instruments, SCADA system (for the BIOSTYR only) and commissioning support, as well as process guarantees.
The City of Evansville is increasing the flow capacity of their existing facility to 30 MGD average. The current activated sludge plant is rated at 20 MGD. The BIOSTYR is designed for 10 MGD and will operate parallel to their current activated sludge plant. The BIOSTYR is designed for secondary nitrification.
The project was a pre-purchase bid directly to the City. Kruger bid equally with another major BAF competitor in the market. The procurement documents provided specifications and plans for both processes. The Engineer and City evaluated the processes based upon price, existing installations, past customer satisfaction, process operation, and 20 year life cycle costs. Kruger was lower on capital and determined to be more desirable based upon the additional criteria.
