Kruger Inc. (Kruger), a Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies company, worked with Bolton & Menk Inc. to successfully operate the BioCon® Biosolids Dryer and Energy Recovery System (ERS) at the Buffalo, MN Wastewater Treatment Plant in Buffalo, MN.The plant has increased its' biosolids capacity to 1850 tons of dry solids per year by constructing BioCon® Thermal Convection Belt Dryer and Energy Recovery System.The Energy Recovery System provides over 80% of heat for the dryer from renewable fuels, and reduces the biosolids mass by 95%.This reduces the plant operating costs by over $24/wet ton as compared to disposal at approximately $50/wet ton.
Kruger's scope of supply includes mechanical equipment, instrumentation and controls, field services, equipment warranty, and a process guarantee.Mechanical equipment provided included wet cake storage and transfer, BioCon® belt dryer, condenser, heat exchanger, solids handling, furnace, fans, gas trains, burners, ash handling, flue gas emissions controls system, and related ancillary component.
